Poulsbo's Plans Add More STO Miles

The City of Poulsbo completed the Johnson Parkway & SR Hwy 305 roundabout project at the end of 2022 and hosted an official opening ceremony to the public on June 17, 2023.

NKTA is celebrating the City's efforts on securing construction funding on the remaining gaps in the STO route within the city, beginning spring/summer 2025 (Item #2 shown on the adjacent drawing) along with the 2027 final piece of the project (Item #3).

This "gateway" and safety improvement project at Poulsbo’s SE city limits of began in 1992 as part of the Noll Road Corridor Transportation Study and was further developed in 2008 and 2016 that included approx. 1-mile of vehicular /pedestrian safety improvements, arterial /highway access, the STO separated shared-use trail and a bicycle /pedestrian tunnel under the busy SR-305 traffic roundabout, creating a landscaped entrance to the city with culturally significant signage and artwork aesthetics.

NKTA has funded and installed the STO wayfinding signage along Johnson Parkway and is grateful to city officials & staff for incorporating the "String-of-Pearls Trail Plan" environmental goals of linear habitat corridors with this project's restoration and connectivity of 2.5 acres of wetland enhancements, 10 acres of natural wetlands, native plantings in stream buffers adjoining the roadway and the more than 7,500 tree seedlings planted in this parkway.
